Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes below are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings for the time I am present and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first provided below as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

-Terry Ward, Dufferin OPP Detachment – Provided an update for the community. Mayor Soloman commented that the presence in Grand Valley seems to have increased.
-Gord Feniak, Town Engineer, RJ Burnside & Associates Ltd –Report – Available Water and Wastewater Capacity Report, 2020-911 units were allocatable. Page 24 on Agenda
-Tom Krizan, President, Thomasfield Homes Ltd – Employment Lands –Discussed Industrial lands within Urban Boundary.
COVID-19 Emergency Updates – verbal update- vaccination clinic went well.
-Headwaters Health Care Centre – update on COVID-19 burden
-Internet Servicing – Town Staff discussed updates
-Burning By-law – verbal update, Fire board Feedback presented, main concern seemed to be enforcement. Council discussed updating the draft with some amendments and directed town staff to return to council with an update.
-Application Z3-2021 for a Zoning By-law Amendment under section 34 of the Planning Act. Submitted by Tyler Kloet, for property located at 401239 County Road 15, Grand Valley. The purpose and effect of this application is to permit an accessory building (detached garage) to be located closer to the front property line than the primary dwelling. Approved by Council
-Declaration of Surplus Land and Conveyance of Surplus Land. The purpose and effect of this application is to consider a request to deem a portion of the property of surplus Town owned property described as Part 1 on Plan 7R6680 located on west site of County Road 25 (Water Street). Council approved and the property was sold to the property owner by the town for $15,000.
Public Question & Answer Period
-Paul Latam asked Council before they proceeded with repaving Crozier Street if they had considered expanding the street at the part where it narrows.
-Paul Latam also asked about when the burning by law would be moved forward by council. The Mayor responded that they are still discussing.
-Paul Latam asked about when the Urban Guideline Project will be brought to the public for comment and to the council for approval. The town planner said he would get to it when he had a chance.

Public Works Superintendent
-Verbal Update- Street Sweepers are working currently, Truck 46 has some bids, Concession 27 still needs work.
-Crozier Street and Emma Street Construction Projects- The spot on Douglas Street is to be included in the Emma Street Repair at the same cost of Emma Street.
-Town Staff added that they have prepared some communication for upcoming public work projects to aid in communication. Council Approved Signs to be made and put up annoucing these projects.
Golden Homes- Recommendation Report coming soon.
9 Ponsford- In the Appeal period
Cooper Street- Purchased by Community Living Dufferin, site plan application out, plan coming to an upcoming meeting.
174 Amaranth Street East- In the Appeal Period
William Street Application- Recommendation Report coming in May
Thomasfield Phase 3A-1-Processing on Tindale Cres. Phase 3B- 4th engineering plan under review.
Corseed- Request for Allocation. Once decided, Draft Plan and Recommendation report pending.
Moco- Burnside engineering comments being reviewed.
Industrial Street will become Watson Road.
Scott Street- Property has been Sold.
William Street- Environmental Consultant has been retained.
