Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes below are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings for the time I am present and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first provided below as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Deputations/Presentations
11:30am – Alvaro L. Almuina, R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited – Traffic Calming Principles – virtual attendance- Council discussed traffic calming measures- Bollards and line painting were discussed as the best options, Leeson St was the priority and Taylor St to be included if the budget allows.
Unfinished Business
International Plowing Match-Tent, Events – verbal discussion- the Town has a tent and discussed what they were going to do for it. The town will be sharing the tent with Amaranth

Report – Proposal to declare Town-owned Land as surplus and sell the lands – 046384 Southgate Road 04, Township of Southgate- Council Approved and declared the land surplus, council directed staff to hire a professional mineral evaluation firm to evaluate and bring back more information to council Page 75 on the agenda
9.1.6. Report – Staff Announcement – Director of Public Works-
We are pleased to announce that Matthew Bos was the successful candidate for the Director of
Public Works position. This new position replaces the former Public Works Superintendent role,
which has been vacant.
Matt was chosen from 28 applicants, bringing public works experience from the Township of
Adjala-Tosorontio and the County of Simcoe, along with leadership experience with Hydro One.
He is a volunteer firefighter for the Mulmur-Melancthon Fire Department. Additionally, he has
completed his Certified Road Supervisors designation through the Association of Ontario Road
Supervisors along with several other certifications.
Matt’s first day with the Town will be Monday, August 14, 2023.
CAO verbal update
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Training- Shelburne is holding an event for council and has invited 3 members for GV Council to attend.
- Rogers project- Fibre to the home- 30 inches depth
- Request for Gravel Road studies- CAO is looking into this
Recreation Facilities Manager
Grant for Seniors Recreation – verbal update-Application was not submitted due to policies and other items that were required that are not currently in place.
Campground- 3 users this past long weekend, not as busy as has been expected.
