Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes below are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings for the time I am present and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first provided below as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Mayor Soloman proclaimed February 22, 2023 as “Human Trafficking Prevention Awareness Day” in the Town of Grand Valley

Mayor Soloman proclaimed February 13-19 to be “Nonprofit Appreciation Week” in Grand Valley and encourage all residents to show their appreciation to the people who work in our community’s charities and nonprofits

Public Question Period
-Bev Graham- Seniors Centre-Letter-Page 31-Council Discussed, Councillor Dart suggested if providing transportation to Orangeville for seniors programming. Councillors Latam and Jonker inquired about potential suitability and investment for fixing up the Youth Centre Building on Mill Street in the future for that use. Mayor Soloman asked if our Recreation Manager could provide programming and the CAO indicated that the Recreation Manager would not have additional time for this. As it was the public question period and public was allowed to comment I suggested a potential interim solution of the town providing funding to allow for the library to work collaboratively with the town to provide expanded seniors programming at the community centre. Council said they would explore suggestions further.
-Karen and Harold Black – Solar light at Amaranth East Luther Townline and County Road 109- Council discussed and said that due tot he location this would be a joint decision between Amaranth and Grand Valley.

-Report – Buying Group Program Participation- Page 34, council received and approved.

-Telecommunications Interoperation Ability Project – Verbal discussion- Our current systems will not be supported in the long haul. Orangeville is going ahead with this and has taken the lead. Other municipalities can join as well.

-Canada Post layby’s are the towns responsibility, public works will be responsible for them moving forward.
-Garbage Cans Between Amaranth and Main Street are overflowing on a consistent basis. It is becoming quite an issue. CAO suggesting reduced number of cans and send letters to businesses and property owners in the area informing them that the garbage cans are not for residential/business waste. Councillor Rentsch suggested mailing the letters and leave all the garbage bins but modifying the top of the bins to have a smaller openings.
