Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes below are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings for the time I am present and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first provided below as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

COVID-19 Emergency Updates – Moving to Stage 3 government reopening plan, second Grand Valley vaccination clinic to be organized in the future.
Internet Tower-Public Notification- Meetings and applications taking place for installation plans. Public comments received were concerns about proximity to houses, property values etc…

-Community Centre Accounts Payable-May 10, 2021, June 28, 2021
-Council Vacancy Special Meeting – verbal discussion about having this meeting for filling the council vacancy in person or virtual. It was decided to conduct the meeting virtually. Package available for the public to review on Friday.
-Report – Grand Valley Modernization project- we received confirmation of approval for a grant from the government to help small and rural municipalities modernize service delivery and identify new ways to be more efficient and effective.
-Report – Town of Grand Valley Staffing Update- By-Law Enforcement Officer- Currently hiring, Recreation Management- Currently creating the job description hoping to have posting up in July and fill the role in September, Economic Development- Project Coordinator Contract position extended until mid-August when the Deputy Clerk/Communication Coordinator takes over the duties for that role.
-Report – Recommendations for the EDC Action Plan- Council discussed report and what items could be acted upon.
Public Works Superintendent
Verbal update- Bridge washing and Inspections. Cox Construction has started construction on Crozier Street and then to Emma. Will be removing asphalt and resurfacing, curbing and sidewalk work as well. Town fleet of vehicles appointment booked for under oiling. Tree stump removal is happening in town as well.
Applications have been received- Greenwood property Cty Road 25 Lot line adjustment.
Golden Homes- The appeal period is over and no appeals were received so this will be moving forward.
Water St- Offer to purchase with the lawyers now.
Cooper Street- Community Living Dufferin- Awaiting securities and registration.
Thomasfield Phase 3B- The appeal period is over and no appeals were received so this will be moving forward.
William Street- Environmental Consultant has been retained waiting to bring forward Recommendation Report.
Scott Street Development-No news.
Zoning By-Law refresh- Planner met with Zoning Consultant & Burnside. Some properties are not zoned correctly, 4 properties need to be rezoned. 7 Properties on Amaranth Street abutting Thomasfield subdivisions that should be rezoned as well. The town planner will reach out to property owners when the town is proceeding with zoning by-law update. Tentative plan for notice for a public meeting to go out mid-Sept.
Employment Lands-Nothing to report at this time.
