Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes below are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings for the time I am present and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first provided below as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Joe Miedema, President, Dufferin Water Company Ltd. – Grand Valley Drinking
Water System Annual Report – Page 26 on the agenda– We are nearing or are at current capacity with our 3 wells, the new well should be competed and ready to go next year. No compliances issues with town water/wells.
Rob Koekkoek, President, Orangeville Hydro Limited – Gas-fired Electricity, Page 38 on agenda
Unfinished Business
-COVID-19 Emergency Updates- A question was asked about why the town office is not open for public as restaurants etc.. are open. The CAO responded saying now that we are in Orange the office is open to the public with precautions in place.
Public Meeting
-Application B1-2021 for a Consent (Lot Line Adjustment) under Section 53(5) of the Planning Act. Submitted by Luke Wilcox c/o VanHarten Surveying Inc., for property located at 10 Mill Street East, Grand Valley. The purpose and effect of this application is to permit a Lot Line Adjustment between 10 Mill Street East (roll #334300) and 39 Main Street South (roll #345500). Council approved this request
-Application Z1-2021 for a Zoning By-law Amendment under section 34 of the Planning Act. Submitted by Mr. Robert Greenwood, for property located at “0” County Road 25, Part 1 Plan 7R-3898. The purpose and effect of this application is to permit a site-specific Zoning By-law Amendment to permit residential uses. The planner explained that certain steps are in the process right now (surveying, site plan etc..) to prove that a residence, septic and water can be put in place without touching the Environmental Protection area of the property.

-Town of Grand Valley Accounts Receivable
-Town of Grand Valley Accounts Payable- Councillor Miles brought up a question about transparency regarding Burnside and getting quotes for engineering firms.
-Community Centre Accounts Payable
-Internet servicing – verbal discussion, still waiting on response from Bell (contract already in place), will discuss further when response received.
-Colbeck Park Committee – request for pavilion and support to apply to Farm Credit Canada AgriSpirit Fund- Council supports the application but at this time cannot commit to any funding from the town for this project.
-Arena Generator Project- Council approved for company to come in to review techinical data
-Municipal Emergency Readiness Fund – 2021 Application
-Quote for Project Design and Management

Public Works Superintendent
Verbal Update
-Grading has started, Street Sweeper quote A&G Street Cleaners from Bolton, water truck supplied by Town.
-Vehicle and Equipment Plan – revised version
-Report – Automated Speed Enforcement- Discussed quote, staff directed to look into further details.
Planners Report
Golden Homes- Request for deferral of security deposits, council passed a resolution that they have denied the request for deferral of security deposits.
New application-Severance application for 9 Ponsford.
New application-174 Amaranth Street East
Thomasfield Phase 3A-1-Processing on Tindale Cres.
Corseed- Recommendation report should be coming soon.
Moco- Engineering submission received.
Ministerial Zoning Orders MZO- Page 105 on agenda council discussed employments lands and services available. Council directed town staff to speak with current owner of lands zoned Employment and see if they would want to proceed with temporary services. Council also directed the Planner to find out the cost and timing on an official town amendment.
