Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes below are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings for the time I am present and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first provided below as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

-Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing – 2021 COVID-19 Recovery

Staff Reports
CAO/Clerk-Treasurer
-Office Reception Desk Quotes- Approved quote of $4303.99
-Grand Valley Garden Club – support request, due to COVID, fundraising efforts have not been able to support the projects planned for this year. Council approved the request for a donation of $2000.
-Tower Location Request – Southwinds Engineering Inc and Rural Net- Council directed staff to find out more information.
-Proposal – Vmedia Fibre Internet- Council supports and directed staff to write a letter expressing this.
– Recreation Survey Results- Council reviewed and discussed.
-Street Light Program- Council received and approved the program.
-Report – Dog License Review- Council discussed, they wanted to know why are we collecting, what the cost was for the town, where are the funds going. Council approved staff to obtain costing and additional information.
-DC Amendment Study – verbal update
-Report – Assumption of Mayberry Hill Phase 2 and Agreement to amend
Subdivision Agreement for Mayberry Hill Phase 3A- approved by council
-Report – Regional Training Centre Proposal- Council directs the CAO to complete the MOU and work with the Fire Chief on its submission for consideration.
-Arena Renovation Project – East Garafraxa concerns reviewed- Council agreed to meet with East Garafraxa if they wanted that.
-Report – Digital Grand Valley and proposal to apply to the Municipal
Modernization Program Intake 2-Council supports the application and directs the treasurer to allocate the money in the 2021 budget.
Public Works Superintendent
-Verbal Update- Graders are out working on potholes. Catch basins and culverts have been cleared and snow has been pushed back. Working with contractors for quotes on Crozier Street and Emma Street. Looking at quotes for street sweeping.
-Report – Vehicle and Equipment Update and Review-Council receives report and further that council directs staff to sell #46.

-Planning Update
-10 mill Street application for lot line adjustment
-174 Amaranth application to permit a garage.
-Golden Homes- Recommendation report potential on March 23rd
-Thomasfield Phase 3 A- processing municipal approvals for Tindale Cres
-Core Seed- Recommendation Report Coming
-Provincial Updates and General Matters- Discussed the Growth plan, future development space etc..
Pending Items List
-Report – Draft Open Air Burning By-law- Discussed and reviewed and council directed town staff to make amendments and then send the final draft to the towns legal counsel to review.
