Although the public is unable to attend council meetings at the moment due to COVID-19 regulations our Grand Valley Mayor, Deputy Mayor, town councillors and town staff have taken action and modified the meeting structure to be conducted via video conference so that council meetings can proceed.
In these stressful and confusing times, I appreciate their efforts and adaptability to ensure town matters are addressed.
You can access the meeting agendas and minutes here for April 14th, 28th and May 12th, 2020
Since I haven’t been able to able to attend the meetings I do not have my regular notes but after reading through the minutes I wanted to post about a couple of recent updates that I believe are of note which I have included excerpts below.
Budget Considerations-At the April 28th, meeting council deliberated the draft budget, I wanted to highlight an excerpt from the notes, which you can find on page 4 here.
“Wilson presented the second draft 2020 budget. Council asked that an additional$60,000 in savings be found to further decrease the tax rate, including a decrease to Council’s remuneration. Amendments were discussed and agreed upon. Final draft budget to be presented at the May 12, 2020 meeting.”
Town of Grand Valley Budget– Passed at the May 12th meeting, you can find the budget on page 31 of these “draft” minutes here.
Recommendation Report– from Grand Valley Lions Trailer Park Council Committee was reviewed by the council at the May 12th meeting, you can find the notes on page 5 of the “draft” minutes here
