Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes below are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings for the time I am present and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first provided below as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Deputations
– Grand Valley Small Business Group – Farmer’s Market Proposal-Council Approved the use of the William Street Park
– Peter Turrell – Mill Street Property update-site needs to remain closed off to be secured. Soil has been remediated on site. Grass can be cut with a whipper snipper. Bio-sparging the wells would be the recommended treatment. Councillor Latam asked if we can finish the remediation so that the property can be fully used. Council Approved for the funds for Peter to purchase a pump to do the bio-sparging on the wells.
-Tiny homes in Grand Valley discussion- Peter Turrell discussed from his professional experience the need for tiny homes in our community. 999 sq feet or less would be his recommendation, Peter offered to show council his plans for tiny homes. Mayor Soloman asked to see the plans, Peter agreed.

CAO Update – verbal update
Grass Cutting notices will be sent to property owners this week that the town will no longer be cutting the grass.
Rogers Internet Project- Some residences have received notices, onecall locates have been requested. Won’t be working in our area until Fall.
Live streaming and Recording Council Meetings- Switching to Microsoft Teams for virtual access, retention requirements (thought that recorded meetings are the same as minutes). Should be AODA compliant, closed captioning $11,000 per year to bring us into compliance for live streaming and closed captioning. Councillor Latam requested that if other local municipalities are able to do this we should be able to as well. Council directed staff to keep looking into more options.
Staffing Space- Offices are being switched around, the committee room will be now used as the server room. Cost for reconfiguring is projected at $3000, already in the budget. Committee table has been offered to Library/Fire Hall and was declined not sure if any other organizations in the community could use it.
Upcoming Council events- Hilltown property owners meeting May 23rd at the community centre. May 31st emergency management forum. June 1st 6pm Scott St Road and drainage restoration meeting on Scott st at the cul de sac.
Concession 2-3 Park-rain has caused delayed, fall will be projected completion.
