Amaranth Aggregates is locally owned and operated by the Greenwood Family (Robert, Cindy and their son Ian) The business is located just north of the urban area of Grand Valley on County Road 25 (just past the water tower). Most new residents to the area that are looking for aggregates do not realize that this business is open for retail sales ( in addition to wholesale) supplying in-demand landscaping products such as Mulch, River rocks, sand, gravel and more.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Cindy on her front porch amongst her beautiful gardens where we chatted about how the business started and what services/products they offer.
Robert was born and raised in the Grand Valley area and his family has a long history in the local aggregate and construction industries which is where Robert initially got his experience and interest. Cindy hails from nearby Mono Mills and met Robert in High School, once married Robert and Cindy settled in Grand Valley to raise their family and start their business. Robert and Cindy have 2 grown children, Ian and Melissa who grew up helping and working in the family business and still live in the area with their own families (Melissa and Mike are the owners and operators of Derkwood Beekeeping Supplies which I featured as a past local business spotlight).

Robert and Cindy’s son Ian officially joined the business in 2011 and in the following year helped expand the business to include more aggregate/retail landscaping supply, earthworks, excavating, grading, septic system designs and installations, equine arenas and more…. (visit their website for a more comprehensive list of services here).
I asked Cindy what they loved most about Grand Valley and Cindy said the community. This family business has been built through the support and loyalty of its customers who for the most part live and work in the area (especially when the business first started out). Amaranth Aggregates prides itself on putting its customers first, operating with honesty and integrity with top quality products to provide the best experience. This small-town customer service and connection with the community and their customers are what sets businesses like this apart from others in the larger towns and cities in my opinion making places like Amaranth Aggregates exceptional at what they do.
