Wendy and I have known each other for years through our kids and lets just say to know her is to love her! I am excited to share and feature Wendys local custom cross stitch/embroidery business Get Stitched!
Wendy had always loved occupying her time with arts and crafts as a child, when she came across a small cross stitch kit at a store she thought she would give it a try. She liked how the craft was portable and she could display it in her home when she was finished. Cross stitching and embroidery became a passion for Wendy and in 2018 she opened the doors to her business Get Stitched.

Wendy and her family moved to Grand Valley in 2013 after leaving the Peel region. Wendy and her husband wanted their son to experience small town living, and they were also looking for a quieter, slower pace.
Get Stitched….the beginning
Wendy began researching other cross stitching ideas, and found other stitch-enthusiasts posting amazing custom portraits. Wendy thought that the potraits were so unique and creative, and she knew she wanted to create portraits as well. Four years and many, many portraits later, Wendy continues to pursue her love of cross stitching/embroidery through creating custom portraits for her customers from near and far.

Many of Get Stitched’s customers order portraits for Christmas gifts, weddings, birthdays, Mother’s/Father’s day, etc. Wendy also creates custom Christmas ornaments and house portraits as well.

Each portrait takes Wendy several days, sometimes weeks, to create. The earlier you contact her regarding a portrait the better, as it allows her enough time to complete and edit if needed. This is especially true during busy times of the year such as Christmas/Mother’s Day. Depending on your location Wendy does offer free delivery.

Wendys most popular product is the custom family portrait. They are one of a kind, created with the utmost attention to detail, and can be tailored to meet any need/occasion.
What do you Love most about Grand Valley?
When I asked Wendy what she loved most about Grand Valley she said the people who live here. Wendy said the she and her family have met some genuinely kind people who they now consider close friends and neighbours. Wendy feels that everyone is always so considerate, and willing to help in any way they can. When aid is needed, the community rallies together and that’s something she had never experienced living in a big city.
