Hereward Farms is a family owned and operated Lavender farm located in East Garafraxa. Julie Thurgood-Burnett is at the helm of this family business where they create lavender-infused farm-to-skin body and home products.

How Hereward Farms got its start
The thought occurred to Julie during the lockdown (Ontario) in 2020 — she wondered on a whim if they could grow lavender on their 150 acres. Julie bought 40 plants and tried her hand at farming. Julie then researched and took online courses to learn everything she could but really was hands on learning at its best.
Once Julie’s Lavender crops started producing she thought “what am I ever going to do with all this lavender?” , that is when the skin care line came to life! Julie said they sold out immediately which then starting the expansion plan. Today Julie said they have over 6,000 plants and over 20 products.

Julie said she is still in shock that Hereward Farms and their products have grown and taken off so much. So much so that Julie pivoted her career and is now running Hereward Farms full-time with her family and staff

Julie and her family live in Hereward, a small hamlet just outside Grand Valley. Julie said her husband’s ancestors settled here during the Potato Famine in Ireland and have lived here for generations.
Most Popular Product?
Julie said that “Lavish Pure Lavender Infused Face Serum” (pictured below) is definitely their most popular product…I have used it myself and it is divine!
Hereward Farms Luxurious Infused Lavender and Vanilla Hand and Body Lotion (pictured below) is a close second. These products are infused with the lavender grown on the farm which is pretty special and unique for skin care products.

What do you Love most about Grand Valley?
Julie said she feels “there is an incredible sense of community here in Grand Valley; everyone supports each other. It’s been really great to watch the growth of the downtown area over the past few years, and I’m excited to see what’s coming in the future”.
