Pitmasters Choice Pellets is owned and operated by local Grand Valley resident Dorian Childs. Dorian moved to the area 4 years ago to start and raise his family as he appreciated the small-town community vibe that Grand Valley offered.
I had a chance to sit down with Dorian and learn more about his business and how he got started. Dorian is a passionate home griller and he noticed that were not any Candian producers of wood pellets for his smoker grill, he also didn’t like the quality of the pellets that were available on market nor the addition of fillers to the product. Dorian knew that there had to be a better option and when he couldn’t find one he created it.
Four years ago Dorian set out to create a 100% Canadian manufactured and sourced (all wood except Hickory) superior blend pellet that showcased the high-quality wood without the addition of any additives. Dorian achieved this goal and has expanded his business exponentially over the past couple of years due to his commitment to making a fresh, quality product that is competitively priced and tops it off with amazing customer service. Dorian also added custom-blended Spice Rubs to the Pitmaster Choice collection which have been flying off the shelves.
When I asked Dorian what he loved most about Grand Valley he said the community. Tania owner of the Grand Valley Ace Hardware was actually the first distributor who signed up to carry Pitmasters Choice Pellets and Dorian really appreciates the support he receives locally.
