Wrinkly Bear Brewing Company is a locally owned and operated family business run by Sherry and Larry Matlashewski (Mom and Dad) and Andrew and Dan (sons). Wrinkly Bear offers craft beer and delicious food all in the amazing renovated space of the old Grand Valley Public School, centrally located at 27 Main Street North, Grand Valley.
I got a chance to speak with Dan about the business and he said they had been wanting to open their own place as a family to share Larry’s Craft beer and good times with the community for a long time and when the perfect venue became available they finally decided to go for it.

Dan said their family first moved to Grand Valley about five years ago after relocating from Orangeville and Brampton. They were looking for a small town to call home. Larry has been making small batches of beer in his kitchen for years and they would always get together as a family for holidays and special occasions to drink the beer and enjoy dinner.

As mentioned above Dan said his family had been wanting to open a small craft brewery and restaurant for a few years and they had always loved the old school house in Grand Valley. In early 2021 they spoke with the Landlord, who allowed them to move in and start getting things going. They opened their doors in July of 2021.
When I asked Dan what their most popular menu items would be he said definitely their hamburgers. Dan said they have a few different types to suit every taste, and they have received tremendous positive feedback from their customers.
Wrinkly Bear also offers weekly features consisting of soups, sandwiches, chili, and stews. At the beginning of the week Dan said they have a chat with their Chef and plan out the special for the week. We cannot forget about the Beer!! Which is also a pretty popular menu item.
What do you Love most about Grand Valley?
When I asked Dan what he and his family loved the most about Grand Valley he said “It goes without saying that we love the small-town strong community vibe of Grand Valley. Everyone is so friendly and supportive of our business. It is great to have a place where people can come together to share some food, drinks, and great times”
In addition to their restaurant and brewery, they also have an event space that can be used for anything from corporate events, to weddings. It can seat about 50 people for dinner service. Reach out to them directly to view the space and plan your special event.
