Local Hot Spot -2nd Shot

February 3, 2020 by Amy Steele Leave a Comment

John, Lindsay and their lovely girls Chelsea and Hunter

John and Lindsay are the creators and artists behind 2nd shot Recycled Skateboards. I had the opportunity recently to sit down and have a chat with John and Lindsay at their shop in Grand Valley and got to hear the story behind 2nd shot and the unique pieces of art they design.

Skateboards lined up in the shop waiting to be made into a beautifully handcrafted watch or another piece of art.

John and Lindsay come from a long line of Entrepreneurs on both sides of their families however they never set out to be in the business of creating watches and other products made from Recycled Skateboards.

This all started when John made a piece of art back in 2006 from some recycled skateboards that once finished hung on the wall of their Orangeville home. After many people started commented and inquiring about the unique piece Lindsay decided to put it online and see if someone was interested in acquiring it. A buyer from Alaska purchased the piece of art shortly after it was posted.

What was originally a fun project then became a hobby and soon turned into a career after John and Linday decided to go “all in” and sell their home in Orangeville and make the move to Grand Valley over 5 years ago so that they could invest their time and resources into running the business full time.

2ns shots signature product are watches made from recycled skateboards, each piece is handcrafted individually by John and Lindsay.

When speaking of their products John and Lindsay’s passion and commitment to the process of recycling a product that would otherwise be discarded is evident. John explained that skateboards are made up of seven layers of maple ply and when they are stacked together you get different variations of colours and patterns.

Knives are another handcrafted product available for purchase.

When you purchase a product from John and Lindsay you are not only receiving a unique, handcrafted, environmentally friendly work of art that has a story you are also supporting

If you would like to find out more information about 2nd shot you can find them on Facebook here or Instagram here. Check out their website for different products available and to order here.
