Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes are what I perceive as highlights from the council meeting and are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first (link provided below) as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available. You can also watch the video recording of the council meeting to get the full context.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings/watch the recrodings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Proclamations
-Sexual Violence Prevention Month – May 2026- Page 14 on Agenda
Staff Reports
CAO
-Battery Recycling Program opportunity- Page 15 on Agenda– Council discussed, it was suggested that as this programs generates some revenue perhaps another spot in town instead of the municipal offer. The Community Centre and Library were mentioned as possible places. Council received and approved the program.
Director of Finance/Treasurer
– Christopher Dixon-Pirzas is the successful candidate for the Deputy Treasurer position with the Town. Page 43 on Agenda Christopher has over 4 years experience in accounting and comes to us from RLB Charted Professional Accountants, where he had been working in their Not-For-Profit (NFP) Audit and
Assurance Team.
By-Law and Property Standards Enforcement
-Spruyt Avenue and Accessible Parking Review- Page 103 on Agenda– Council received and approves to directs staff to implement exemptions to By-law 2019-72 for motorists with accessible parking permits to permit motorists to park for 2 additional hours and directs staff to present the necessary amending by-law for adoption. 1) No Parking on North Side of Rainey Drive, as discussed 2) No Parking on the Northside of Spruyt Avenue, as discussed 3) Amend parking on the south side of Rainey Drive from a drop-off zone to one-hour parking zone.
