Communication Update
Report to Council by Deputy Clerk for improving communication between the Town and residents.
Excerpt from Report-On March 12, 2019, Council directed staff to create a Communications Survey to receive public input on the creation of a Town Communication Policy. The survey was distributed online through the Town’s website and Facebook page, and in paper format at the Town office and some local businesses. The survey closed on May 31, 2019
Recommendation from Report was the following:
1) Direction to staff to create an Acceptable Use Policy for Town website, social media and Electronic Sign to be implemented early in 2020, which does not include provisions for paid advertisements and maintains free advertising for local community events;
2) Direction to staff to investigate options for creating a Town of Grand Valley App and Grand Valley Communication Network, and then present a report for Council consideration and possible inclusion in the 2020 budget;

Public Works Updates
Verbal update- Amaranth Sidewalk project complete, Crozier Street asphalt planned for September.
New truck to be purchased as another vehicle is needed for By-Law Patrol and enforcement, funds coming from Development Charges.
New Stops signs installed at Emma & William Streets and Cooper & River Street. New Stop sign to also be installed shortly on Leeson Street North.
Speed Sign on Leeson Street- Since installed average speed is 42 km in a posted 50km area. Will leave in place to collect more data for the next few weeks.
Cachet Homes wants to open the Leeson Street North entrance as residents are now moving into the new development. Public works Superindent expressed that he felt some work still need to be completed by Cachet Homes first.
Planner Update
Multiple Fence Variance Application- This seems to be happening a lot in the new subdivision, If you want to build a fence on your property please read the Town’s Fence by-law and fill out an application.
Verbal update on ongoing files
More Street Names needed as there are only 3 approved names in the database at the moment. Councillor Rick Taylor and the Heritage Society to discuss and propose more names.
