Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes are what I perceive as highlights from the council meeting and are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first (link provided below) as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available. You can also watch the video recording of the council meeting to get the full context.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings/watch the recrodings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Amy’s Highlights of the Town Council Meeting
-Deputations-Violet Bromley – Parking Concerns Along Main Street North-Page 20 on Agenda. Concerns regarding parking on the main street during services at In Memoriam. Ms. Bromley had her car struck while trying to get out of the food bank parking lot. Cars were parked encroaching onto the food bank driveway and thus reduced sight lines and space to get out of the parking lot. Council discussed and they asked staff to look into solutions with In Memoriam during services.
-Hill Town Subdivision – Hydro One Agreement- Page 71 on Agenda. Council discussed and authorized the Clerk to sign the agreement for providing electrical servicing to the Hill Town Subdivision in Monticello.
-Grand Valley Medical Centre – lease and request for financial assistance-page 100 on Agenda. Council discussed. Highland Health Network has signed the Lease Amending Agreement which now encompasses the entire medical centre. Highlands Health Network asked for council to contribute to 50% of the renovation costs of the lower level to accommodate their needs. Council and staff discussed that this could be possible through rent reductions. Council authorizes the Mayor and Clerk to sign the Lease Amending Agreement as presented with the adjustment for rent reduction over 2 years and directs staff to prepare and present the necessary by-law for passing.
