Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes are what I perceive as highlights from the council meeting and are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first (link provided below) as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available. You can also watch the video recording of the council meeting to get the full context.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings/watch the recrodings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Amy’s Highlights of the Meeting
-Presentation – Main Street Pedestrian Crossing Review – RJBurnside and Associates-Presenter Henry Canten, RJ Burnside and Associates- Page 29 on Agenda. Council receives and approves the Type B Cross walk with a Bump out on Main Street in the 2025 budget. See image on Page 119 of agenda. I believe they also said the crosswalk will include flashing lights and will see 4 parking spaces removed from main street to accomodate.
-Presentation Grand Valley and District Public Library -Building Committee- Page 121 on Agenda. The library board has indicated that the library has outgrown its current space and with the projected growth in our town the library board would like the town to may plans for a future site for the new expanded Library. The Mayor thanked the Library Board for coming out and Council received the report and said to keep contacting council and reminding them that the Library needs the expanded space. Joanne Stevenson (CEO of the Library) indicated that this request was brought forward to the town approximately 5+ years ago by the past Library CEO.
-Report 2025 Property Tax Installment Due Dates and Preauthorized Payment Plan Changes Page 158 on Agenda. Please read through the report and watch the video for full details but the main change that I feel will affect a lot of people will be that the 12month PAP will be moved to a 10month PAP. The 12 month option will no longer be available. The town will be notifying those affected.
