Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes are what I perceive as highlights from the council meeting and are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first (link provided below) as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available. You can also watch the video recording of the council meeting to get the full context.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings/watch the recrodings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Amy’s Highlights of the Town Council Meeting

2025 Grand Valley Campground – Year End Operational Report – Michael Derkinderen, on behalf of the Grand Valley Fire Fighter’s Association-Page 13 on Agenda. After expenses, the campground generated $479.93 in net proceeds. The Firefighters Association representative indicated that they got a late start and missed the revenue of the May long weekend. They would be willing to run the campground again this year as they feel it is a great thing for the community and they are not looking to make a profit but break even as they feel this is more of a community service. Council agreed to continue the agreement for this coming year.
Private Well Interference Report and Recommendation-Page 19 on Agenda-The Town staff was notified of a problem with a neighbouring private well and Well #5 interference. After investigation it is recommended that the Town negotiate a cost sharing agreement with the property
owner for the decommissioning of their existing well and the construction of a new well. Council directs staff to work with RJ Burnside and Associates and the property owner to have the well replaced and the old well decommissioned.
Grand Valley and District Public School Parking Concerns–Page 81 on Agenda– Council reviewed the proposed action items to help remediate this problem and discussed. Council decided that parking will be allowed only on one side of Spruyt. Parking on Rainey Drive will be on the south side. The mayor will write a letter to the school board. Council also gave direction for bylaw to enforce all parking infractions.
