Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes below are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings for the time I am present and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first provided below as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Deputations
-Gord Feniak, RJ Burnside and Associates Ltd. – Town Water and Wastewater Capacity- New Well up and running on schedule. Wastewater was much higher last year, Emma Street Project had inadvertently connected a pipe from river for a period of time that would have contributed. High flow has persisted in spite of this. Discovered a Manhole William Street and Emma that was producing a high flow and connected the old sewer system with new from Thomasfield subdivision. This was originally under Thomasfields contractors purview to connect old system with new. Leakage was coming from the connection from old system to the new. Town Engineer spoke with Thomasfield to discuss remediation. Remediation process should take place starting Wed June 12th.- Page 66 on Agenda

Unfinished Business
-Request for Boundary Fence with 48 Main Street North – Verbal Update -CAO/Clerk- Council discussed, Council authorized council to obtain quotes for a chain link and board fence and bring back to council.

-Report – Lameront-Sahm Municipal Drainage Works -Consideration of the Report, 2024-018-21
Tom Pridham, P. Eng. Drainage Engineer will speak to this Report.
-Recommendation-BE IT RESOLVED THAT Report – Lameront/Sahm Drainage Works – Consideration of the Report be received; AND FURTHER THAT the Engineer’s Report, dated May 30, 2024, be hereby received and that the date and time for the Consideration of the Report be set for June 25, 2024, at 10:30a.m. during the regular Council meeting.
AND FURTHER THAT staff be directed to circulate the report to the affected owners, Township of Amaranth and agencies pursuant to Section 41(1) of the Drainage Act, accompanied by a Notice of the date of the Consideration of the Report at the Council meeting at which the report will be considered, and to prepare a by-law to implement the work.

-Branded Clothing-Page 62 on Agenda-To purchase one shirt per employee and council member
would therefore cost approximately $1,125 (20 employees, 5 council members). It is recommended that one style be chosen, but the colour choice be open to the recipient. Council Discussed and authorized staff to proceed.

Public Meeting
-Planning Act and Section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997 as amended. Zoning By-Law Application Z02-2024 – Hill Town Drive Subdivision (Monticello) Public Meeting under Section 34 of the Planning Act- Public Meeting Report PLN14-2024 – Zoning By-Law Amendment – Application Z02-2024- Hill Town Drive (Monticello)- Page 90 on agenda. A couple of property owners that are in close proximity to the Hill town Subdivision voiced their concerns about going forward with a subdivision in Monticello. It was suggested that if they want more houses they should be built in the urban area of Grand Valley. Council Received the report, comments will be accepted until July 12th. Recommendation Report will follow after that time.
-Development Charges – Public Meeting under Section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997 as amended. The Intent of this public meeting is to present and obtain public input on
a proposed Development Charges By-law and underlying Background Study.Notice of Public Meeting. Development Charges Background Study dated May 17, 2024- Page 105 on Agenda
Recommendation THAT Council receive the Development Charges Background Study dated May 17, 2024; AND FURTHER THAT the Town of Grand Valley hereby confirms that no further public meeting is required pursuant to Section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997.
