Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes are what I perceive as highlights from the council meeting and are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first (link provided below) as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available. You can also watch the video recording of the council meeting to get the full context.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings/watch the recrodings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Unfinished Business
-Council Chamber Improvements – Next Steps Discussion Deferred from the February 24, 2025 Regular Council Meeting- Council Discussed, audio has been improved. Staff will look into the purchase of a second TV screen to be mounted on the South wall of council chambers.
-Automated Speed Enforcement Program Revenue Recommendation-Page 27 on Agenda– Council received the report and directed revenue of $70,000 to be spent in 2026 to offset increasing policing costs and the remainder to be included for discussion in the 2026 budget.
-193064 Amaranth East Luther Townline -To permit an increase in lot coverage from 5% to 10% and to reduce the interior side yard setback from 15m to 7.5m to facilitate the construction
of an Accessory Building (Garage). Council discussed the engineers direction for a site plan and directed staff to the revert back to town engineer for direction. Planner to come back with final recommendation report.
-361225 Concession Road 8-9 – Brakke -Severance Surplus Farm Dwelling and Rezoning A Consent and Zoning By-Law Amendment to permit a surplus farm dwelling severance. Council discussed and approved the severance.
SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING FOR 2026 Budget- Click this link to watch. Click here for the Agenda. Council is working on getting the budget increase down from 11% into the 5-6% range, Deputy Mayor Rentsch spoke to his goal was 0%, Councillor Dart said his goal was to get the increase as low as possible. Councillor Jonker pointed to elements that were out of their control in regards to the budget.
