Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes below are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings for the time I am present and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first provided below as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Report – By-Law Enforcement Status Update – February 2024 Recommendation- Page 52 on the Agenda
THAT Council receive the Report – By-law Enforcement Status Update- February 2024, for information purposes- Complaints received for retaining wall on a property in town that is in need of repair, dogs barking and parking on property lines. Council discussed asked about time restrictions for town owned parking lots and the procurement of an automated license plate reader. Council received report and approved staff to look into costs of automated license plater reader and report back to staff.

Report – Recreation Facilities Manager Update Recommendation- Page 55 on Agenda
THAT Council receive the Report – Recreation Facilities Manager Update for information purposes.- Tree trimming at the campground cost $8800. Council Received the report.
CAO/Clerk-Treasurer
-Report – Meeting Remuneration-Page 31 on Agenda
Recommendation THAT Council receives Report – Meeting Remuneration Rate, AND FURTHER THAT Council approves the per-meeting increase to $80 per meeting and directs staff to prepare and
present the necessary by-law for passing. Council discussed and approved
-Report – Treasurer’s Update- Page 36 on agenda
Recommendation THAT Council receive the Report – Treasurer’s Update for information purposes. Council Reviewed.
-Report – New Police Services Board Appointments under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019- Page 43 on Agenda
Recommendation THAT Council receive Report – New Police Service Board Appointments under the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019, AND FURTHER THAT Council appoints James Jonker as the
Council representative and Josh Hoskin as the Public Representative to the O.P.P. Detachment Board for Amaranth, East Garafraxa and Grand Valley until the end of the term of Council in 2026, pending provision of a clear police record check as required. Council approved
-Memo – Office Closure, April 3, 2024- Page 45 on agenda, council approved additional costs of $4000 and that the office be closed on April 3, 2024
-Grand Valley Medical Dental Centre – Management Agreement- Council discussed and approved for staff to obtain legal guidance.
SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING- 2024 BUDGET
-Council discussed and thanked staff for efforts on the budget. Council approved the 2024 Budget that will see a 7.2% increase to the tax Levy.
