Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes are what I perceive as highlights from the council meeting and are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first (link provided below) as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available. You can also watch the video recording of the council meeting to get the full context.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings/watch the recrodings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Amy’s Highlights of the Regular Town Council Meeting
Fire Services for the Community- Page 82 on Agenda. Council accepts the level of service in Table 1 with the addition of Swift Water/ Surface Ice Rescuer at the Technician level. This is being put in place as the there are discussions that the Fire Board will be disbanded. Councillor Latam voted against this motion and Mayor Soloman, Councillor Jonker & Deputy Mayor Renstch all voted in favour. The motion passed.
Grand Valley Medical Dental Board Dissolution- The board that comprised East Garafraxa, Amaranth and Grand Valley has dissolved. Page 55 on Agenda
Grand Valley Official Plan and Zoning By-Law Review (Vision Grand Valley)– Page 135 on Agenda– by 2051 it is projected that the population will be 16,500 and 4000 in jobs. Council discussed this report at length and asked questions to the consultants that were there presenting the report.
Public Works Update- It took 9 days for street sweeping to be completed due to the amount of sand on the roads however they are pleased with the work of the street sweeper that was used this year. Grading is happening now and sign repairs. Road line painting and traffic calming measures are being put back in place. New Gateway signs are in and they are being installed.
