Before we get into the notes I just wanted to make a point of clarification as I would like to avoid miscommunication and information being taken out of context.
The notes are what I perceive as highlights from the council meeting and are my interpretation of what I hear at the meetings and they include matters which I think the public will want to be aware of.
These notes are not fully inclusive of all items on the agenda and are not verbatim notes. If you have questions or want clarification about anything I have noted I would definitely recommend reading the official agenda first (link provided below) as well as reading the official meeting minutes when they are available. You can also watch the video recording of the council meeting to get the full context.
My intent for these posts is to keep the community informed regarding what is happening in town as I know it can be difficult to attend meetings/watch the recrodings and read through all of the agenda’s and minutes.

Amy’s Highlights of the Town Council Meeting
Proclamation – International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women – November 25th
Deputations-Ian McCreath and Becky McCreath – Concerns Regarding Deaken Drive Micro Surfacing-Page 19 on Agenda. Residents expressed their concerns with the quality of the micro surfacing on Deaken Drive. They asked why it was done which Public Works CAO explained that it extends the life of the road. They also expressed that the quality of the work was a concern. Public Works CAO explained that this is a process it requires the road to be used and then it gets better. The Main road was used as an example of this, that there were complaints at the beginning and now the road is smooth and looks good.
Town of Grand Valley Development Charges projects- Page 35 on Agenda. Drinking Water systems, Growth Related Studies, Wastewater (sewage and septic) systems, Fire Protection Services, Roads and Highway Services, Library Services, Parks and Recreation Services. Over $176 Million was the total of the projected projects. Background-At the November 4, 2025 special meeting, Council requested additional information on the list of projects that have been incorporated into the Town’s Development Charges, as part of their review of the costs of development in Grand Valley. Council brought forward a resolution which passed to remove the arena addition and have the library bring forward more up to date costing without outside groups being factored in as well as some other items they asked staff to investigate.
