I have included updates on the kiddos below, Doug keeps his calendar full with teaching and is very active at the Gym doing CrossFit 5-7 days per week. He also still enjoys playing Baseball in the summer and Hockey in the winter. Doug is always willing to step up and coach the kids activities so he coached Duncans Baseball this summer and is the Assistant Coach for Duncans hockey this season.
At the beginning of 2025 we had some amazing family travel adventures. We went to Costa Rica at the beginning of January with Doug sister and her family which was lovely. Their family has visited many times so we got a great tour of the town we were staying in. Some highlights included surfing, hiking, a pair of red Macaws who lived at the place we were staying and had some amazing family time.
We also were fortunate enough to go on a cruise with a group of friends in February. The kids were old enough that they were able to enjoy activities without us tagging along all the time and we had some beautiful stops. My favourite was the British Virgin Islands…. I fell in love with that area. Lots of memories were made!
We also made use of our travel trailer again this summer with some family camping trips however we decided once we packed up the trailer for storage this winter that it will be our last season and will be putting the trailer up for sale in the spring. On to new adventures!
Another big highlight for me was playing and sponsoring a team in the Grand Valley Softball league inaugural season. I got to play with Doug and Myles and our neighbour Ryan and we met some amazing people and had a blast all season.
Myles
Myles is now working full time in the construction field and was hired on as a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Orangeville. He also is co-owner of an Exterior lighting business JM Lighting (permanent & seasonal lights) with his friend Johnny which keeps him quite busy in his spare time. Myles girlfriend Serena is currently in school to become a high school tech teacher and in her spare time she is a hockey goalie coach and runs her own small business doing engraving-SB Engraving.
Duncan
Duncan graduated from Grade 8 and we celebrated by going to Game Con in Edmonton where I learned about the world of Warhammer and other interactive games and he was immersed in his element! Duncan also had a great season of Baseball and decided to play hockey again this year. Duncan is in high school now and has been enjoying working in the Cafeteria and is part of the D&D club. Duncan also goes to the gym with Doug in the mornings and enjoys the workouts and the community there.
Rosslyn
Rosslyn is in her last year of Elementary school and is quite active in her school community (volunteering for the snack bin program, reading buddies and speaking at the Remembrance Day Ceremony). Rosslyn did swimming lessons again this past summer and she also stepped up to be the goalie this season for her hockey team as they did not have one.
The Steele Family Pets
Our beloved Gideon unfortunately crossed the rainbow bridge this year (June) after 3 months of multiple vet visits we found he had cancer of the lymph system. After he passed we and our smaller dog Luke felt his loss immensely so in July we welcomed Penelope into our lives. She is a bundle of joy and has been helping us all along as we grieve the loss of Gideon.
Amy’s Real Estate News
Although 2025 brought its challenges in our local real estate market with slower sales and longer days on market, it ended up being one of my busiest years yet. Many long-time buyers I’ve been supporting finally found the right place to call home, and several were able to take advantage of the current buyer-friendly conditions to secure great properties without competition.
I feel truly grateful to work with such wonderful clients who value, appreciate, and trust me. Your support inspires me to always go above and beyond in everything I do.
